  • Worked in a pharmaceutical safety assessment team of a trading company specialized in chemical products.
  • Worked for a major patent firm.
  • Passed the Patent Attorney Examination and registered as patent attorney in 1982. Left the patent firm (Tanigawa was the head of biochemistry department when he left the firm) and went to the United States. Stayed with Birch, Stewart, Kolasch & Birch (BSKB) in the suburbs of Washington D.C. and received private lessons from American patent attorneys.Participated in various seminars. Finished a USPTO Patent Academy program.
  • Returned to Japan and found Tanigawa and Partners in Iidabashi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo in 1986.
  •  Lecturer at the "Chemistry and Biotechnology," a specialized course at Toray Patent Translation School from 2006 to 2014.
  • Lecturer at Antibody Patent Seminar organized by Technical Information Institute Co., Ltd. in 2007 (three times).
  •  Lecturer at short-term collective training seminar organized by the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization from 2006 to 2007.
  •  Lecturer at an e-Learning course "Writing patent description in chemical and bio-industry fields" from 2013 to 2017.
  • Lecturer at specialized courses organized by Japan Patent Trans, Inc from 2014 to the present.

1986 1986 Tanigawa and Associates was founded in, Iidabashi 4-chome, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
2012 The office moved to the present location.
2013 The firm was reorganized as Tanigawa and Partners, Patent Firm.
